Artificial Intelligence Alliance for Education

Launch of the AI Alliance for Education, São Paulo (SP).

Launched in 2024, the Artificial Intelligence Alliance for Education brings together the Lemann Foundation, Instituto Apis, and VélezReyes+ to accelerate scalable EdTech solutions, focusing on personalized learning, formative assessment, and teacher support.

In 2025, after reviewing more than 80 EdTech ventures, the Alliance invested in three high-impact organizations. Khan Academy adapted Khanmigo for Brazil, expanding its active users from 10,000 to over 120,000. Support was also provided to Lize Edu, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) to strengthen Mathematics learning, reaching more than 13,000 students across seven municipalities in Rio Grande do Norte, and to Herby, an AI platform that helps teachers design customized classroom activities and assessments, which launched operations in the country.

Through combined financial and strategic support, these solutions now reach over 1 million students, demonstrating AI’s potential to broaden access to personalized educational resources nationwide.

“Joining the Alliance enabled Lize Edu to scale our impact dramatically, supporting assessment journeys across 61+ municipalities, 2 states, and 7,000 schools in 17 states. This translates into a direct impact on more than 3 million students and 200,000 teachers, with over 5 million tests graded and 75 million educational data points generated.”
