Since 2015, the Escolas Criativas (Creative Schools) initiative has promoted creative learning as a core strategy to boost student engagement and improve learning outcomes. Created through a partnership between the Lemann Foundation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the project evolved into a model of systemic support for public school networks, integrating hands-on practice into curricula, teacher training, and education management, with a sharp focus on middle school.

In 2025, the program reached a major institutional milestone with the launch of Instituto Escolas Criativas (IEC), and saw expanded partnerships with local networks, widespread training for teachers and school leaders, field monitoring across partner territories, and the rollout of dedicated instructional materials and evaluation frameworks.
