Afro-Brazilian Leadership in Public Management Program

Closing Ceremony: 2nd Edition of the Afro-Brazilian Leadership in Public Management Program.

Developed jointly by João Pinheiro Foundation and the Lemann Foundation, with technical methodology by Motriz Lideranças, the Afro-Brazilian Leadership in Public Management Program advanced its second cohort in 2025, establishing a benchmark model for empowering Afro-Brazilian public sector executives. The curriculum integrates executive leadership development, critical studies on race and governance, actionable policy design, and peer network building.

Spanning seven months, the 2025 program brought together public leaders from across Brazil for immersive modules covering structural racism, intersectionality, and democratic integrity. The cycle concluded with the presentation of action-oriented projects addressing core public sector gaps, such as the lack of ethnic-racial data, low representation in senior career pathways, and embedding anti-racism policies in government operations. The cohort celebrated 37 Afro-Brazilian leaders graduating across 11 public institutions and 17 municipalities.
